How can preventive health innovations better support people in vulnerable life stages and communities that are often under-served by traditional lifestyle interventions?
In this 45-minute online Lunch & Learn, the Institute for Preventive Health explores how inclusive, preventive approaches can contribute to reducing health inequalities across the life course. The session brings together insights from projects focusing on early-life support for families and on promoting active living in under-served groups, with particular attention to the role of digital tools and inclusive design.
The session will be hosted and moderated by Martine van der Mast, Programme Director of the Institute for Preventive Health.

What to expect
Early Support for Families
Janine Faessen (Wageningen University & Research)
This presentation focuses on early-life nutrition and support for families during pregnancy, lactation and early childhood. Janine will reflect on the seed funded project plans and earlier studies that underpin the PRISTA initiative, which aims to develop an inclusive digital tool offering reliable, up-to-date dietary guidance for women and young parents from diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.
Active Living for Under-Served Groups
Cem Ataman (Eindhoven University of Technology)
Cem will share insights from the seed funded EQUAL project, which explores how inclusive approaches can stimulate active living among groups that are often not reached by conventional lifestyle interventions. His contribution will reflect on the project’s aims, methods and key insights, drawing on his role as postdoctoral researcher within the EQUAL team and his current position as Assistant Professor.
The session concludes with an extended Q&A, allowing ample time for interaction, reflection and exchange.
