The Top Sector Life Sciences & Health (LSH), also known as Health~Holland, supports innovation in the Dutch LSH sector by funding public–private partnerships (PPS). Through PPS grants, Health~Holland provides financial backing for programmes that align with the sector’s objectives, with programme partners selecting projects that contribute to those goals.
In response to the Health~Holland PPP call 2025, i4PH developed the programme Tailored Lifestyle: an integrated data-driven approach to lifestyle and living environment.
About the Tailored Lifestyle programme
Health challenges such as diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, cancer, and depression pose a major burden on public health. These challenges disproportionately affect people in lower socioeconomic positions (SEP). The Tailored Lifestyle programme focuses on reducing health disparities by supporting healthier lifestyle choices and by creating living environments that make healthy behaviour the easier, more sustainable option.
The programme brings together expertise across technology, behavioural science, lifestyle interventions, and living environment research and practice. Projects combine (for example) digital tools, data-driven methods, co-creation with communities, and implementation in real-world settings.
Coordination and collaboration
The programme is coordinated by the Institute 4 Preventive Health (i4PH), in collaboration with partners within the EWUU alliance (Eindhoven University of Technology, Wageningen University & Research, Utrecht University, and UMC Utrecht). Across projects, public and private partners collaborate to develop, test, and improve interventions and tools that can be adopted in practice.
Projects and impact
The Tailored Lifestyle programme consists of a portfolio of projects funded within the programme’s public–private partnership framework, including both Kickstart and Signature projects. Projects are designed to contribute to the Dutch Knowledge and Innovation Agenda ambition of more healthy years of life and reduced health inequalities.
The current project portfolio includes six projects (start dates in 2026):
- PRISTA 2.0 – Inclusive dietary support in early life
- ALIGN – Digital lifestyle support for people in financial distress
- THRIVE – AI-based tailored lifestyle coaching for serious mental illness
- L4Change – Living Lab for Lasting Lifestyle Change
- ELEVATE – Streetscapes and physical activity
- CityWave – A citizen science tool for healthier living environments
