Research lines

At the Institute for Preventive Health, our research lines bring together knowledge from across disciplines to address health challenges throughout life. From a healthy start in childhood to living well at home at older age, we focus on prevention, health equity and solutions that work in everyday life.

Our four research lines reflect the broad scope of preventive health research within i4PH. Each line explores a distinct stage or dimension of health, while sharing a common goal: to develop evidence-based approaches that help people live healthier lives for longer, and to reduce health inequalities across society.

Our research lines:

  • Healthy Start: Which lifestyle interventions work best for young people with a low socio-economic status and other disadvantages? This question is central to the Healthy Start theme
  • Preserving Health In the Health Preservation research line, we explore environmental changes and effective lifestyle interventions for adults to live longer in good health, with an emphasis on addressing challenges in vulnerable neighborhoods.
  • Living with Disease: How do you improve the quality of life of people with chronic diseases? That is what the Living with Disease theme investigates.
  • Health@Home: To what extent do food preparation apps and other technology tools help older people to live independently at home for longer?

Together, these research lines shape i4PH’s contribution to a healthier future for all.

Research at i4PH also takes shape through collaborative programmes and targeted activities that connect knowledge, practice and society. Explore our Research Initiatives to see how we work with partners, communities and researchers on shared challenges and opportunities.
