Equal opportunities for a healthy lifestyle and optimal medical care, regardless of socio-economic status. This is possible if prevention is at the core of our endeavours.
The i4PH is part of a strategic alliance that brings together the unique expertise of four prominent institutions in the Netherlands: Eindhoven University of Technology, Wageningen University & Research, Utrecht University and the University Medical Center Utrecht. This collaboration is unique in its approach to preventive health, which includes the integration of technology, behaviour, exposome, nutrition and biology.
A multidisciplinary approach
These institutions are working together to lay a solid foundation for optimal medical and social care, as well to create equal opportunities for a healthy lifestyle. We work on multidisciplinary research, innovative education and community building at the intersection of health, lifestyle, living environment and technology. This interdisciplinary approach allows for a more holistic understanding of the complex challenges facing preventive health, as well as the potential to drive scientific breakthroughs that will lead to improved health outcomes for individuals and society.
Four Themes
The work is organised in four themes:
- Healthy Start: which lifestyle interventions work best for young people with a low socio-economic position and other disadvantages?
- Preserving Health: which lifestyle interventions work best for adults with a low socio-economic position?
- Health@Home: what technology helps older people to live independently at home for longer and assists young people with mental health conditions to live healthily?
- Living with Disease: how to improve the quality of life for those who suffer from chronic disease?
Our activities are in line with, and complement, the Knowledge and Innovation Agenda Health & Care 2020-2023.
