Equal opportunity for a healthy life and optimal care, regardless of socio-economic status. It is possible, if we focus fully on prevention.
The i4PH is part of a strategic alliance that brings together the unique expertise of four prominent institutions in the Netherlands: Eindhoven University of Technology, Wageningen University & Research, Utrecht University and the University Medical Center Utrecht. This collaboration is unique in its approach to preventive health, which includes the integration of technology, behaviour, exposome, nutrition and biology.
A multidisciplinary approach
Together, we are putting down a solid foundation for optimal care and an equal opportunity for a healthy life. From an integrated approach, we work on multidisciplinary research, innovative education and community building at the intersection of health, lifestyle, living environment and technology. This interdisciplinary approach allows for a more holistic understanding of the complex challenges facing preventive health and the potential to drive scientific breakthroughs that will lead to improved health outcomes for individuals and society.
Four Themes
The work is organised around four themes:
- Healthy Start: which lifestyle interventions work best for young people with a low socio-economic status and other disadvantages?
- Preserving Health: which lifestyle interventions work best with adults with a low socio-economic status?
- Health@Home: which technology tools help older people to live independently at home for longer and encourage young people with mental disabilities to live healthily?
- Living with Disease: how do you improve the quality of life of people with a chronic disease?
Our activities are in line with, and complement, the Knowledge and Innovation Agenda Health & Care 2020-2023.
